How about an Indian actress as Pakistani brand
ambassador? Will it bring more fame? Will it drive people crazy about
our brand? This is how a brand manager usually thinks or discusses.
However, this is not always welcomed by the common people.
Advertisement in Pakistan has always been
followed by the trends and innovations adopted globally. From 1998-2008,
after the formation of PEMRA there was a huge flood of channels which
brought about the culture of Indian actresses as Pakistani brand
ambassadors. Katrina Kaif was brought into Pakistani commercials after
2008 and the rest just followed the rat race culture.
Firdous Lawn is considered to be a trend setter
for hiring Indian actresses for their latest lawn collections. Firstly
they chose Kareena Kapoor who had a big Bollywood name and brought about
fame from across the world. Secondly, they had Deepika Padukone who
also captured the fashion follower’s attention. And now, they have gone
for Sonam Kapoor who is well known for her style sense. This was
followed by Crescent lawn that started off by choosing Sushmita Sen as
their brand ambassador. Now they have opted for Karishma Kapoor as brand
ambassador for their spring summer 2012 collection. Marathi Actor,
Abhyangh Kuvalekar has also been chosen as the brand ambassador of a
Pakistani designer label.
These actors take great pride and pleasure in
modeling for Pakistan while Pakistan is spending a very high budget on
such pure Indian advertisements. Since these actors are appreciated
quite a lot for their unique dressing and taste of glamour in India and
so they are equally welcomed in Pakistan by the common man. It does
bring attraction to their brand but is it the right thing?
Calling out on actors from other countries and
neglecting our own stars, isn’t it injustice to them? Isn’t this called
degrading or disrespecting your own people just because of some extra
bucks? How do our actors feel watching other people getting fame in
their country instead of them? Nobody thinks about it now, it just all
about money these days.
Some of the Pakistani actors have even complained
about this trend. Instead of promoting the brands with other people,
the Pakistani people should go for people from their own country.
Pakistan is full of talent and beauty which is being neglected by its
own people. Think and do something about it before the Pakistani stars
loose all the hopes they have!
