Recently, Amina Shiekh bagged the Best
Actress award at the New York Film Festival. For again, Pakistan is
being discussed across New York not for a terrorist assail, but for a
Pakistani actress Humaima Malick who has been crowned the Best Lead
Actress for her role in BOL at the first ever South Asian Rising Star
Film Awards.
For her poignant performance in the
unconventional movie BOL, this star lady has won prestigious awards
whether it’s the Best Actress award at the 11th Lux Style Awards 2012 or
Best Actor Female award at London Asian Film Festival.
Humaima was contesting against some real
popular Indian actors Tanishtha Chatterjee, Parineeta Chopra, Rasike
Dugal and Preeti Desai in the category. On winning the award, she was
plagued with the achievement and said,
“I had no idea this role would earn so much recognition. It is an amazing honour to receive another award in a foreign land for a movie that is very close to my heart. I owe the entire team of Bol, Shoaib Mansoor and my family for this achievement.”
The award gathering, which was organized in cooperation with HBO, was part of the 9th
annual South Asian International Film Festival, a ground breaking
cinematic and entertainment extravaganza, which has already become a
landmark event in New York City.
The focal charisma of the evening was
positioned with the respected star studded jury which included American
actress and musician, Janina Gavankar; Indian film critic, Rajeev
Mansand; front-man of Goldspot and singer/songwriter, Siddhartha Khosla;
and American actor, Maulik Pancholy, while the entire ceremony was
hosted by Indian actress Sunny Leonne and US filmmaker Jay
Chandrashekar.

“Zainab” touched the hearts of billions in global community as it
replicates the true story of many people. She played as a strong woman
who caught between the norms set by her roots and fought against her
father’s hypocrisy and the society’s insincerity.
But this is not the end.For Humaima
these achievements are like a drop in the bucket. She is now all set to
rock the silver screen with her heartrending acting skills as more
recently she has been nominated in the Best Actor category at the Asia
Pacific Screen Awards, competing against India’s Vidya Balan of The
Dirty Picture fame.
